3 Reasons Why a Diesel Generator Is the Right Choice

Eleanor Hanson

Many people around the world are interested in buying a generator. Some people need one for work so they can bring power to the job site, while others want one to bring a back up power source to their home for when something unexpected happens. Both of these reasons are great reasons to invest in a generator, so it boils down to you choosing which style of generator will provide you with the best bang for your buck. Below I will explain why a Diesel Generator is a great choice for business or home use.

The two most popular styles of generators on the market are gasoline and diesel. Both can provide you with power when you need it, but they have vast differences that should be pointed out. A diesel generator has some distinct advantages over gas, here are the top 3:

1. Life Expectancy – Gas generators will not last as long as diesels do. Diesel powered generators are simply built to last. They may cost a little more up front, but are well worth it when you consider you can keep one up and running for over 10 years with proper maintenance.

2. Fuel Consumption – The price of diesel fuel is currently a bit pricier than gasoline, however, it is much more stable and the fluctuations are less drastic. With a diesel generator, you also burn less fuel. They run more efficiently than gas, so the higher cost of gas is quickly offset by the “mileage” you get while running one.

3. Storage – Storing diesel fuel is MUCH safer than gasoline. It is far less flammable and does not carry the same explosive nature as gasoline does. Aside from being safer to store, it also stores longer. So if you want to stock up on fuel for one reason or another, you should know that diesel fuel is a much safer choice.

These are just 3 of the main advantages of choosing a diesel generator over gas. Whether you are looking for power on the job or back up power for home a diesel powered generator would be a great investment. As I said earlier, they are slightly more expensive up front, but when you factor is the fuel consumption being better, and the life expectancy it turns out to be a better investment.

Hopefully this has helped inform you as to what some of the benefits a diesel generator has over gas. For me, I want a product that is going to last a long time and provide me with years and years of quality service.
